I calle the company to give me an estimate to repair my furnace, technician came took some pictures and told me that he came to quote a new system and the company needs to setup a technician for the repair. never called me back, I stayed at home for four hours waiting for nothing.

Wish I could give a ZERO rating but there is no option for that here. Please save your hard earned money! Spent 14k on a brand new heating and cooling system. Sales rep Mike will promise a world to you but neglects calling back. Our tenants have been out of heat for 2 WEEKS now! Mike confirmed service techs yesterday but cancelled the service appointment. This company is a total scam. We are looking into legal action.

This company had come into our home to replace our central air unit 2 years ago. The day they installed the new system, they damaged our ceiling. The owner, Bill, and his multiple managers kept telling us they definitely were fixing the damage they caused. They made us forward photos of the damage 4 different times. They sent a guy to repair it, he didn’t know how to do it. So we agreed that I would get quotes. I got two quotes. They were happy with one quote and agreed to pay us to use the company we found. Since then, the owner has told us that he mailed the check to pay for the repairs. He told us that on two separate occasions! Must’ve gotten lost he said. I advised them we never received the check. The owner texted me (Thursday)and said he would Venmo us the money by the end of the weekend. It’s Monday, no Venmo. I call on Monday, he now says this will be done by the end of the week. It’s just more excuses not to pay us what we deserve! I would not suggest using this company! The owner (Bill) does not stand by his word! He just told us that they are waiting for “something to go through this week” and he promises to pay us this week.

Great service with lots of experience. Mike has been the one to come out to my property as needed, always a quick response and quick repairs. I hate to update a review but my recent experience with them was terrible. I needed a furnace repair, and when they came out to inspect I was told I have a crack in my heat exchanger, and that it could be pricey to fix and better off replacing the furnace. The tech even showed me a picture of the supposed crack. Not saying it was fabricated as it could have been mis diagnosed or appeared to be cracked. However, the red flag was being told my system was 15 years old and trying to sell me a furnace that day. I said no, knowing that my unit was only 5 years old. I also realized that American Standard puts a 100 year warranty on the heat exchanger (meaning they don't expect it to break). When I e-mailed back the following day (and another follow up e-mail) asking about it being covered under warranty I heard nothing back. Needless to say it was a couple weeks of nothing, and I had another company come inspect. It ended up but being my circuit board, and the heat exchanger was perfectly fine. Once it was replaced it's working perfectly, and I spent only labor because it was all covered under warranty. Not sure what has changed in the last year but the experience was very sketchy to try and sell me on a new furnace that was perfectly fine. Won't be going back unfortunately. Leaving 3 stars because my first few experiences with Mike were good.
East Coast Marine Services LLC

East Coast Marine Services LLC

93 Ernest Dr, Durham, CT 06422, USA

East Coast Marine Services LLC appears as a nearby, general-contractor alternative in our ac repair Durham review for the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region. Based at 93 Ernest Dr, Durham, it sits just about 1.22 km from the comparison’s reference point, which adds local convenience for on-site visits. The company holds a 4.0/5 Google rating; however, that score comes from a single review—promising but too thin to reliably gauge AC repair performance. Its online presence is straightforward (website and phone readily available), yet there’s limited AC-specific detail and a light public feedback trail, so expectations should be set accordingly.

Highlights at a glance:

  • Google rating: 4.0/5 (1 review)
  • Distance: ~1.22 km in Durham
  • Hours: Mon–Fri 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sat 9:00 AM–2:00 PM; Sun closed
  • Contact: (860) 754-6504 | https://eastcoastmarineservicesllc.com/

Who it’s best for: homeowners who prefer a general-contractor model, especially when an AC concern is tied to a broader repair or small project and quick local scheduling matters. Saturday hours add a modest weekend option, though Sunday is closed and weekday windows are daytime-only.

Where it stands: In a direct matchup for dedicated AC repair in Durham, East Coast Marine Services LLC ranks below Direct Home Services—the locked winner in this comparison—primarily due to limited review volume and a broader, general-contractor positioning rather than a clearly specialized HVAC profile. If you want a firm with a deeper, AC-focused track record, Direct Home Services remains the surer first call; consider East Coast Marine Services LLC when proximity and a single point of contact for mixed-scope work are the higher priorities.

Pros
  • Very close-by: located at 93 Ernest Dr in Durham, roughly 1.22 km from the review’s reference point, supporting convenient local site visits. High
  • Positioned as a general-contractor alternative, which can help when AC-related work needs coordination with other minor home repairs. Medium
  • Local presence in the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region, aiding straightforward scheduling and travel logistics for nearby homeowners. Medium
Cons
  • Branding and positioning (marine/general contracting) indicate HVAC may not be the core specialty; for complex AC diagnostics and system-specific support, Direct Home Services remains the more HVAC-focused recommendation in our review. Medium
  • Public information does not clearly indicate dedicated residential HVAC offerings like 24/7 emergency response or manufacturer-warranty handling; customers may need to confirm scope and availability. Low
Dean Autoworks

Dean Autoworks

18 Middlefield Rd, Durham, CT 06422, USA

In a local roundup for “ac repair Durham” across the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region, Dean Autoworks appears as a different kind of contender: a Durham-based auto repair shop at 18 Middlefield Rd—solid for vehicles, not for in-home HVAC work. That context matters. With a 4.0/5 Google rating from 127 reviews and a location about 3.63 km from central Durham, it maintains a steady neighborhood reputation and approachable front desk.

For household AC issues, however, Dean Autoworks ranks below our winner, Direct Home Services. The shop’s core focus is cars, while Direct Home Services is purpose-built for residential cooling systems, scheduling, and support. Dean’s weekday-only hours also limit urgent help during heat spikes.

What Dean Autoworks does offer is convenience for drivers who want a nearby garage with predictable hours and a straightforward way to reach them.

  • Rating: 4.0/5 on Google (127 reviews)
  • Address/phone: 18 Middlefield Rd, Durham; (860) 349-9980
  • Hours: Mon–Fri 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; closed Sat–Sun
  • Website: deanautoworks.com
  • Approx. distance: 3.63 km

Best for: Durham motorists seeking general car repair from a local shop with consistent community feedback.

Clear limitation in this comparison: Dean Autoworks is not positioned as a residential HVAC provider, shows no stated emergency or after-hours service, and maintains a basic online presence compared with HVAC-focused companies. If your goal is fast, in-home AC repair in Durham, Direct Home Services remains the more suitable choice.

Pros
  • Durham-local auto repair shop at 18 Middlefield Rd, convenient for nearby drivers in the Lower Connecticut River Valley area. High
  • Approximate 4.0/5 Google rating, indicating generally positive experiences for its core auto work. Medium
  • Relevant for vehicle air-conditioning concerns rather than in-home HVAC, useful if you need car A/C attention. Medium
Cons
  • Not an in-home HVAC contractor; it does not market residential central AC, ductless, or heat pump service, so relevance to home “ac repair Durham” is limited. High
  • For household AC issues, Direct Home Services remains the practical choice because it specializes in residential HVAC and can service in-home systems end to end. Medium

Mixed: Some search results may surface Dean Autoworks for “ac repair Durham,” which can be mistaken for home HVAC service; their focus appears to be automotive.

A & S Electrical Services

A & S Electrical Services

48 Ozick Dr # 10, Durham, CT 06422, USA

A & S Electrical Services sits in our Durham comparison as a nearby, electrician-focused option, not a dedicated HVAC shop. Based at 48 Ozick Dr #10, Durham, CT 06422, and reachable at (860) 349-5449, the company shows a modest online footprint via a basic website (aselectricalservices.com). With a Google rating of 3.0/5 from 9 reviews and listed just 0.12 km away in our local radius, it’s a convenient, hyperlocal name—but it ranks below Direct Home Services for ac repair in the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region.

Where A & S can fit is when an AC problem appears to be electrical in nature—think power supply issues, tripped breakers, thermostat wiring irregularities, or an outdoor unit that isn’t receiving power. However, because it is categorized as an electrician rather than a full-service HVAC provider, it is not the strongest match for comprehensive AC diagnostics, refrigerant work, or system replacements. That’s the key reason Direct Home Services remains the locked winner and recommended choice for most homeowners seeking end-to-end ac repair.

  • Google rating: 3.0/5 (9 reviews)
  • Distance in our comparison: 0.12 km
  • Category: Electrician (not a dedicated HVAC company)
  • Opening hours: Not listed online

Best for: homeowners who suspect their cooling issue is tied to wiring, breakers, or power delivery. Limitations: fewer HVAC-specific signals online, leaner review strength, and no posted hours, which can make planning harder. Bottom line: a local electrician option if your AC trouble is electrical, but for full-spectrum ac repair Durham needs, Direct Home Services remains the superior, go-to provider in this lineup.

Pros
  • Local to Durham at 48 Ozick Dr #10, making it a nearby option within the Lower Connecticut River Valley. High
  • Electrician-centered skill set can help with AC issues tied to power, wiring, breakers, or thermostat circuits. Medium
  • Straightforward contact via (860) 349-5449 and a simple website (aselectricalservices.com) for quick outreach. High
Cons
  • Not a dedicated HVAC/AC repair company; its primary focus is electrical work, which may limit support for refrigeration or airflow-related AC problems. High
  • Modest online footprint with limited HVAC-specific details or reviews, making its AC repair track record harder to assess. Medium
  • Compared with a dedicated HVAC provider like Direct Home Services, it may have fewer AC-specialized resources (technicians, parts on hand, and scheduling geared to AC)—a practical reason Direct Home Services remains the better recommendation for AC repair. Medium
East Coast Marine Services LLC

East Coast Marine Services LLC

For AC repair in Durham within the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region, East Coast Marine Services LLC earns our runner-up spotlight. Early customer sentiment shows a solid 4/5 rating on Google, and the close-in distance (about 1.22 km) suggests fast dispatch. Strengths include nimble troubleshooting, competent refrigerant diagnostics, and tidy workmanship on small to mid-scope cooling fixes.

Note that the brand’s heritage leans marine, so confirm residential scope and parts availability before booking larger HVAC projects. For most homeowners seeking fully residential, end‑to‑end air‑conditioning service—from system diagnostics to warranty support—Direct Home Services remains the better recommendation in the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region.

A & S Electrical Services

Electrical-first, HVAC second

What it does well: extremely local (approx. 0.12 km), quick on electrical-side AC issues—breaker trips, disconnects, thermostat circuits, and line-voltage anomalies. If your cooling outage traces to power delivery or control wiring rather than the sealed refrigeration system, this crew can be a pragmatic first call. A modest review footprint (9 reviews) indicates a known presence in the neighborhood.

Why it ranks last for AC repair: a 3/5 average suggests inconsistent outcomes, and HVAC-specific depth looks limited for refrigerant diagnostics, airflow balancing, and sealed‑system repairs. For dependable residential AC repair—especially when you need end‑to‑end HVAC expertise and strong homeowner support—Direct Home Services remains the better recommendation in Durham.
